REVIEW: Steve's Cold Brewed Cinnamon Coffee

We’ve reviewed plenty of caffeine-filled cartons here at The Ice Cream Informant, but it wasn’t until artisan ice cream makers like New Orleans Ice Cream CompanyPhin & Phebes, and Jeni’s starting pumping out complex coffee flavors that we realized their full potential. Infusing pints with spices like cardamom and chicory adds level of intricacy to an already amplified base, so needless to say, we were very excited to see Steve’s Cold-Brewed Cinnamon Coffee show up on a shelf near us and quickly took full advantage.

Like they do in many of their other flavors, Steve's employs a local Brooklyn company, Grady's Cold Brewed Iced Coffee Concentrate to help out with this one. Despite the fact that this is a non-dairy frozen dessert, the cold-brewed coffee, organic coconut cream, organic sugar, grated cinnamon and a few other ingredients still come out to 210 calories per serving.

Even without the addition of any mix-ins, the base, made with cold-brewed coffee and freshly grated cinnamon, came together beautifully. Each bite was full of sweet, creamy coffee flavoring with a bold, strong sensation of cinnamon from start to finish. By the end of this pint, this couldn't quite make achieve an A, but is absolutely worth a try.
