READER REVIEW: Ryan's Review Of Haagen-Dazs White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle
After seeing this come up on a few other blogs and reading a few people's comments on this flavor I set out to give it a go. Word was on the net this flavor was awesome, so was it?
Let's start with the base. Haagen Dazs is still semi new territory for me, but with the few pints that I've had I can't complain. It's a white chocolate base and it's mild but definitely sets itself away from its visual clone vanilla. It's a subtle base and I wish it was a little stronger but still it's good...real good. Moving forward to these truffles. In this pint you often hit these truffle pieces without much effort. The truffles are soft and I couldn't tell if they were filled with a softer chocolate due to the small size. I would rate the potency of the chocolate a solid 7 out of 10, so in other words, it was a little "darker". The truffles may be small yes, but they are plentiful.
Alongside these truffles you'll find a raspberry swirl holding the whole concoction together. The swirl is sweet with a hint of tartness. This swirl floats around the chocolate truffles like a means of transportation through this tour of white chocolate. All in all this variation is a pretty smart combination that works. The flavors that are used here definitely coincide in harmony to create a very refreshing taste. Was it one of the best tasting ice cream pints I've ever had? No. But was it good? Yes, very. This definitely deserves a pick up if you find yourself scratching your head in the freezer section at your local grocery spot.
