REVIEW: Greenfield Decadent Chocolate Sorbet

Due to the low scores that some previously reviewed sorbets have warranted when compared to top-notch ice creams, most of the flavors we've reviewed haven't even been given a grade. Regardless, Greenfield Ice Cream Company insisted we try their Decadent Chocolate Sorbet in an effort to change our outlook on what a sorbet could be. Comprised of mostly water and Ghirardelli 60% cacao bittersweet chocolate, aside from the dairy involved in the chocolate itself, Greenfield doesn't add any extra. At only 160 calories per serving, many chocaholics wouldn't even have to consider this cheating.

As you should with any sorbet, we let this one sit out for a few minutes before busting out our golden tasting spoon for our first scoop. Merriam Webster defines Decadent as extremely pleasing and after tasting our first bit of Greenfield's Chocolate Sorbet that's the exact reaction this one evoked from everyone involved in our review. We'd somewhat expecting a watered down version of chocolate ice cream with no mix-ins, but instead each bite brought about pure chocolate bliss. The large percentage of actual Ghirardelli cacao results in some of the strongest flavoring we've seen, and despite not adding any dairy, the consistency was far better than we anticipated. Not only did we decide to add a rating to this particular sorbet, but Greenfield's Decadent Chocolate Sorbet was even able to score an A on our grading scale.
