REVIEW: Haagen Dazs Peppermint Bark (Limited Edition)
After my local Walmart left me empty handed when it came to Ben & Jerry’s latest flavor, Mississippi Mud Pie, they did manage to source another flavor that had been eluding me for some time now. Typically available from October to December, Peppermint Bark from Haagen Dazs is described as rich white chocolate ice cream blended with crunchy chocolate peppermint bark and peppermint candy pieces.
I’d had the pleasure of sampling the white chocolate base from Haagen Dazs before in White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle, so I was excited to see it again in this limited edition. As expected, the white chocolate ice cream is great. It’s smooth, rich and melts down slowly.
From the first layer to the last, there are plenty of mix-ins to make their way into each bite. The crunchy chocolate peppermint bark compliments the white chocolate of the ice cream and first introduces the seasonal taste of peppermint.
The cooling sensation of the mint is intensified when the peppermint candy pieces come into play. These not only add another element of crunch, but really round out the whole peppermint bark effect. While this one is worth picking up for the white chocolate base alone, if you enjoy peppermint bark around the holiday season, this one is worth seeking out.
