REVIEW: Greenfield PB 'n Chip

When Greenfield Ice Cream Company offered to let me sample some of their artisanal small batch flavors, I jumped at the opportunity. After exchanging emails and anxiously waiting, I came home one day to find a dry-ice filled package sitting on my doorstep.

This Tuxedo, New York based operation prides themselves on their ability to make bold, flavorful ice cream without the use of artificial flavors or pre-made mixes. They claim that their methods translate into better tasting ice cream, so we chose their PB 'n Chip as our first test subject.

Greenfield says this about their PB 'n Chip, "This was too simple. We take our classic peanut butter ice cream with tons of chips. Enough said!" With only a handful of ingredients, including actual peanut butter and Ghirardelli chocolate, once again we were able to experience first hand how much of an impact simple, high-quality ingredients can have on flavor. As soon as the peanut butter bases makes contact with taste buds, the rich, nutty flavor of peanut butter comes rushing in and doesn't let up.

Even without the Ghirardelli chocolate chips classically complementing the peanut butter ice cream, this would have still earned an A. We really can't imagine a better peanut butter foundation for any flavor. PB 'N Chip was sent even further up our rankings once the crunchy pieces of top-notch chocolate were added to the equation. After all was said and done, this operation definitely has our attention and if you have access, you probably should take notice too.
