READER REVIEW: Bob's Review of Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup
After seeing The Ice Cream Informant’s recent review of Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, I decided to give the new exclusive flavor a try for myself. Seeing as how I’m a diehard peanut butter lover, I knew this would be right up my alley. Although I haven’t had Peanut Butter World, the Target exclusive, I have had their Peanut Butter Cup so I can compare this to the original. The description is right to the point: chocolate peanut butter ice cream with peanut butter cups. Unlike others that provide a ton of mix-ins, this is more straightforward. This version uses a chocolate base and peanut butter cups instead of the peanut butter base and peanut butter cups of the original.
Now what is the major difference? Honestly not much. If you’re a chocolate lover and enjoy peanut butter cups in ice cream this is for you. If you’re more of a peanut butter lover, you may want to stick with the original. Almost every bite was complete with a peanut butter cup half. Not fragments of small pieces, but large halves. I would venture to say there were around 10 full peanut butter cups shoved inside this ice cream. Although the top portion wasn’t quite as packed as some others I’ve seen, the bottom part of my pint was a minefield of peanut butter cups. I enjoyed this version, but I still prefer the purely peanut butter variation.
