As I continue my branch out from the more popular brands found amongst common food chains I come across a brand by the name of Lucerne. It was 2 for 5 at my local Dominicks so I jumped the gun (2nd pickup solid B, soon to post)
I'm a huge fan of Horchata and if your unfamiliar with it, it's a simple rice water with sugar and cinnamon combination. Highly recommended. Upon opening the lid of this ice cream, I get a cinnamon white colored base and a cinnamon swirl picture. I am actually really excited at this point for two reasons, unique flavor and a new brand to try out. Poised for success I take my first bite. Spot on Horchata, taste is pin point and the cinnamon seals the deal as the real deal.
I love this flavor theme and it's an excellent change of pace from the ever so rich and dense super premium brands. Coming in at only 140 calories per serving, it's hard to believe that Lucerne has actually made a pretty thick and rich base. I would this say this ice cream could hold its own against even some of the premium brands bases as far as denseness is concerned, this flavor has defeated the marshmallow texture of some of the low calorie ice creams on the market.
If you are a fan of the drink, this will absolutely not disappoint as it is almost identical in taste. Lucerne did an excellent job here and cannot wait to continue a few more trial runs with some of the other flavors they offer.
