Flat out Private Selection is an excellent brand for ice cream. This being said I didn't really expect anything sub par before I opened the container. Pieces of white cake folded into buttercream ice cream with a raspberry swirl? Sounds plenty good to me.
My first thought upon opening this delectable sounding ice cream was the cake pieces. At first glance the container gives a clear indication that these cake morsels won't be few and far between and knowing Private Selection that statement is probably true. I take my first scoop. The base is spot on sweet, not overly mind you, but sweeter than a vanilla base most certainly. The cake pieces are , soft, and have a great sense of quality to them.
Continuing on, the raspberry swirl is worth mentioning almost before anything else respectfully. There was a whole infrastructure of this stuff almost like a highway system for the cake pieces. This fruit swirl in this ice cream remained thick and rich and avoided the ice like texture that some fruit swirled ice creams succumb to. Overall its the combination and theme that set this flavor aside. Its an excellent take on the dessert and warrants a good grade.
