REVIEW: Blue Bunny Spumoni (Seasonal Limited Edition)

Back when I picked up a carton of Blue Bunny’s Perfectly Peppermint, I also seized the opportunity to try out another Seasonal Selections option, Spumoni. This 150 calorie per serving combination of chocolate, old world and spumoni fruit & nut ice creams sounded unlike anything I’d sampled before. Wikipedia had this to say about Spumoni and exactly what makes up the colorful trio, "Cherry, pistachio, and either chocolate or vanilla are the typical flavors of the ice cream layers, and the fruit/nut layer often contains cherry bits—causing the traditional red/pink, green, and brown color combination.”

The three ice creams were certainly pleasing to the eyes, but I was more interested in how they tasted. The plain chocolate was self explanatory, so I quickly moved on to the mysterious pink and teal bases. The first seemed similar to a cherry ice cream (as hinted at by Wikipedia) and even had small flecks of fruit and broken pieces of nuts throughout. The last ice cream was very indicative of pistachio and meshed well with the other two. While this wasn't lacked any real excitement, this was still an interesting combination worth trying once.
