In a blind taste test, which was released earlier today, editors of Epicurious decided to find out exactly which brand had the best vanilla ice cream. Although the study excluded vanilla bean and french vanilla ice creams, the results were quite surprising. Out of the 13 contestants, Whole Food's Market Vanilla was the front runner, followed closely by Breyer's and Ben & Jerry's to round out the podium spots. I haven't had any of Whole Food's own brand of ice cream, but this has made me reconsider. The full results were as follows and the entire article can be found here:
- Whole Foods Market Vanilla Ice Cream
- Breyer's Natural Vanilla
- Ben & Jerry's Vanilla
- La Salle
- Turkey Hill Original Vanilla
- Häagen-Dazs
- Graeter's
- Stonyfield Farm Gotta Have Vanilla
- Ronnybrook Farm
- Edy's Slow Churned Classic Vanilla
- SoCo Creamery
- 365 Organic
